WILL YOU “STEP UP” TO HELP US “BRIDGE THE GAP”?
The Friends of Harold Parker (FoHP) is launching a major fundraising drive for a bridge/boardwalk on the trail from the Lorraine Campground to Field Pond. This trail, one of the few routes connecting the east and west sections of the Forest, has been impassable for several years now, due to flooding caused by beaver activity.
This high-priority project has been the focus of our efforts in 2023. While we have built boardwalks in other areas of the Forest (in partnership with our friends in North Shore NEMBA), this project presents some fresh challenges because of the distance to be spanned (170 ft.) and the depth of the water (4 ft.). In addition, the permitting process has been far more complicated than anything we’ve tackled before and it was necessary to hire consultants to help us through the paperwork. We are eager to get to work, but this will be an expensive undertaking and we need your help. Consultants and permitting fees have already exceeded $4,300, this before a single footing has been set.
We are pleased to announce that a FoHP member family has generously offered to provide a 2-for-1 match for all FoHP donations through the end of 2023!
Please give and help us take full advantage of this generous matching offer by donating using the button below.
We also want to thank, in advance, all the FoHP and NEMBA volunteers who donate the time, labor and expertise to get this done!
Supporting Friends of Harold Parker State with a tax-deductible donation is a simple way to support our all-volunteer organization. Click the donate button to get started.
