All programs are free and open to the public. Bring water, wear sunscreen/bug spray, dress in layers, and wear good footwear.  An adult must accompany children.  Rain cancels. Meet at Frye Pond Beach - Great family fun for everyone interested in learning the basics of pond fishing in New England. Learn the different species of fish that live here and gain a new skill! Rods and bait are provided, or bring your own

Meet at Campground Nature Center- Learn about what makes owls unique in the bird world.  Activity Includes a short demonstration of owl adaptations and owl pellet dissection. Appropriate ages 6 and up.

Meet at Campground Nature Center- Learn about the local bird population from our park interpreter while enjoying some amateur bird watching.  Bring binoculars if you have them.. Appropriate for children 6 and up.

 

Soapstone Quarry Hike

Did you know there’s a blue soapstone quarry at Harold Parker?  A moderate guided hike to the remnants of the Jenkins family blue soapstone quarry.  A great way to learn about the park’s history and resources while getting some exercise.  Meet at Campground Nature Center- For ages 6 and up

Meet at Park Headquarters-Join the Park Interpreter and the Friends of Harold Parker for a slow paced walk through the forest while enjoying nature at its finest. Each week we hike to a different part of the forest for a series of 12 hikes. Recommend bringing water, insect repellent, sun screen, binoculars and camera.  Park Headquarters located at 305 Middleton Road N. Andover. Appropriate for children 6 and up.

Meet at Frye Pond Beach in the campground.- Fish, frogs, snakes, and salamanders, let’s discover what lives in our tranquil New England ponds!  Nets and buckets are provided.  This activity can be wet and muddy.Recommend bringing water, insect repellent, sun screen, binoculars and camera.  Appropriate for all ages.

 

Harold Parker Annual Fishing Festival

Saturday, September 8, 10:00am-2:00pm

Join us at Sudden Pond for a day of fishing for all ages! This event is perfect for anglers of any experience level.  Cast a line, learn about the fish in our waters, safety, and equipment.  MassWildlife Angler Education Volunteer Instructors will be on hand to assist. Equipment is provided. No license required.

Sudden Pond is located near 100 Middleton Rd. in North Andover.  Signs will be posted from park entrances. Wheelchair accessible. Reasonable accommodations upon request.
